Welcome to my practice, where healing, education, and compassion meet.
Injuries and pain should not define your life. With a commitment to Sports Medicine, Integrative medicine and Exercise physiology, and a passion for assisting those hindered by physical constraints, I am here to support you. Let's work together to overcome these barriers, ensuring that your path to recovery is swift and informed.
As a dedicated Family Medicine and Sports Medicine Physician, my approach to healthcare is fundamentally holistic, emphasizing comprehensive healing rather than solely treating symptoms.
My practice is based at UK HealthCare Georgetown, where I am committed to the well-being of each patient under my care. In addition to my clinical duties, I serve with great pride as the team physician for Georgetown College and as the Director of Exercise Physiology at the University of Kentucky.
Understanding the immediate nature of sports and exercise-related injuries, my practice offers specialized Sports Medicine Walk-In Clinics. These clinics are designed to expediently diagnose and initiate the first steps towards your recovery. Geared towards acute injuries, these short visits aim to quickly return you to your active lifestyle, with comprehensive care plans for ongoing support.
Clinic Hours for Walk-Ins:
Morning Sessions: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 8:00 AM
Afternoon Sessions: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 3:00 PM - 3:30 PM
For injuries not requiring immediate attention, non-urgent orthopedic appointments are available from Monday to Thursday, 8:20 AM to 10:40 AM. Call 859-323-9333 to schedule an appointment
Should the morning slots not fit your schedule, please inform the schedulers to contact the clinic to arrange an afternoon appointment that suits you better.
Conditions such as osteoarthritis and degenerative meniscus tear can significantly affect your quality of life by causing pain and inflammation. If traditional anti-inflammatory medications have not yielded the desired relief, I may consider joint injections as a treatment option. Depending on the specific joint affected, I utilize cortisone, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), or hyaluronic acid injections to effectively reduce pain and swelling.
Tendinitis or tendinopathies, while sometimes improving on their own, may benefit from injections to expedite the healing process. Depending on the individual case, we may utilize PRP therapy or dextrose prolotherapy, and in certain situations, cortisone, to directly address the inflammation and pain associated with these conditions.
Known as muscle knots, trigger points are areas within the muscle that can cause significant discomfort. I often employ wet needle injection techniques to alleviate these trigger points, providing much-needed relief from the associated pain.
It is important to note that not all fractures require surgical intervention. Many can be effectively treated through immobilization using splinting and casting. After conducting a thorough examination, I develop a treatment plan based on the type and severity of the fracture. Should a surgical consultation be necessary, I will coordinate a referral to ensure you receive the most appropriate care.
Athletes, in particular, may experience conditions such as ingrown toenails or subungual hematoma, necessitating either partial or complete toenail removal. This procedure can provide significant relief and prevent further complications.
Comprehensive physical evaluations, including EKG if indicated, are available to ensure safe participation in sports activities.
Including incision and drainage, laceration repair these procedures are performed to treat a range of minor skin conditions, offering both relief and reparative care.
